About the guide

Transparent sources, careful maintenance

The Santa Barbara Legal Resource Guide is a free, student-maintained directory that helps local residents reach reliable starting points.

Editorial standards

  • Listings must point to a court, government agency, established nonprofit, or other clearly identified public-service organization.
  • The guide summarizes where a resource may help without recommending a legal strategy or predicting an outcome.
  • Phone numbers, eligibility statements, and links are checked against the organization’s own current information.
  • No organization can pay for placement, and the guide accepts no referral fees.

Maintenance and corrections

Resource pages display the month they were last reviewed. The guide is checked monthly and updated sooner when a court, agency, or organization publishes a relevant change.

To report a broken link or factual correction, email the guide. Do not include confidential facts, documents, deadlines, or requests for legal advice.

Information, not legal advice.

The guide does not form an attorney-client relationship, recommend a legal strategy, or guarantee that a listed organization can assist with a particular matter.
